Do you want to know how big Reggae is? Check Japan where the average Japanese Reggae fan spends more time listening and attending Reggae events than anywhere else in the world(outside of Jamaica). In an interview on Plush TV, DaVille noted that he performed at Reggae event in Japan to a crowd of 35,000 people. He was surprise on the turnout.

Today the music spreads across the globe reaching in Eastern Europe, the former bastion of Communism. In 2006, I visited Prague, the capital of Czech Republic and found a Reggae spot nested in the heart of the city. Every night, Regage is played for a mixed crowd of mainly Europeans. They visit religiously this same spot night after night. On weekends, amateur Reggae bands played their own mix of the Reggae sound.

The above cases illustrate how powerful Reggae really is. The genre started in the early 1960’s and has sprung far and wide from the Jamaican shore. I am sure the early Reggae pioneers are surprise at the huge popularity of their music today.
